Demaryius Thomas played through separated shoulder in Super Bowl
Demaryius Thomas managed to set the Super Bowl record for receptions, despite sustaining a separated shoulder in the first quarter.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas suffered a separated shoulder early on in the Super Bowl, according to Vic Lombardi of CBS4. The injury occurred in the first quarter, and could have been when Thomas took a particularly hard hit from Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor, but Lombardi is unable to confirm that for certain.
Thomas and the Broncos were on the losing end of a 43-8 blowout, one of the biggest in Super Bowl history, but Thomas himself had a stellar performance. Had the Broncos actually won, Thomas surely would have won MVP for his efforts, which included setting the Super Bowl record for receptions.
While the Broncos only managed a single touchdown, Thomas himself caught 13 passes in the game, on 18 targets. He put up 118 yards and the aforementioned touchdown, with a long of 23 yards. It’s basically just a consolation prize at this point, but that he was able to play through that injury is impressive.
The fact that he was targeted 18 times is significant. The Broncos had to know about his injury, Peyton Manning especially, yet they continued to target him and he continued to reward them. The second-leading receiver for Denver was Wes Welker, who caught eight passes (10 targets) for 84 yards. But after Welker, there wasn't much, with six targets and four receptions for Julius Thomas (27 yards) coming in third.
Thomas is a four-year veteran who managed to put up 1,430 receiving yards and a whopping 14 touchdowns this season, to go with 1,434 yards and 10 touchdowns the season before. He’s due for a sizable pay raise either this offseason or next, to be sure.
