Tony Romo injury update: Cowboys QB on pace to join team next month

The starter says his rehab is “going good.”

The Cowboys have received some promising news offseason in regards to their starting quarterback, as Tony Romo says his rehab is "going good" and he expects to take part in organized team activities next month.

It’s the first time Romo has spoken about the injury that prematurely ended his season -- a back surgery just days before the season finale.

“Just going to be ready to go here in about a month and rehab is going good, no setbacks of any kind. Mine (surgery) was just a normal small version of it, so I should be good to go here shortly.”

Romo’s comments were to ESPN, following the Duke-North Carolina basketball game. NFL.com’s Kevin Patra reports Romo and head coach Jason Garrett were in Durham to work with Duke head football coach David Cutcliffe, who worked with both Manning brothers in college.

Romo had a solid season in 2013, throwing 31 touchdowns against 10 interceptions (after throwing 19 picks in 2012) and averaging 7.2 yards per pass attempt.
