NFL Draft results 2014: Russell Bodine taken by Bengals

The Bengals traded up in the fourth round with the Seahawks to take Bodine.

The Cincinnati Bengals have drafted North Carolina center Russell Bodine with the 111th pick of the 2014 NFL Draft. Bodine was ranked No. 163 among all prospects on SB Nation's top 200 big board, which placed him sixth among centers. The names above him include Tyler Larsen, Marcus Martin, Travis Swanson, Gabe Ikard and Weston Richburg.

Bodine was put on the Rimington Trophy watch list in 2013, and was named an All-ACC honorable mention after the season. He started 12 games at center as a sophomore with the Tar Heels, but moved around the line as a junior. Though he started throughout his final season in college, he did so at multiple positions.

Bodine’s combine turned heads due to his excellent performance in the bench press. He put up 225 pounds 42 times, which was best among his position. He’s very strong, and is hard to push around. His biggest limitation at the next level may be his short arms, making him best-suited at center or perhaps right guard.

The Seattle Seahawks had the draft pick coming into Saturday’s action, but the Bengals traded up to get Bodine to help solidify their offensive interior.
