2014 NFL Draft Round 5 results: Aaron Murray, A.J. McCarron go back-to-back
The Chiefs made Murray the 23rd selection of the fifth round, and the Bengals scooped up McCarron one pick later.

It was a long wait for two of the SEC's all-time leading quarterbacks, but it's finally over. Aaron Murray and A.J. McCarron went in consecutive picks in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft on Saturday.
Murray, who set the SEC records for passing touchdowns and passing yards while at Georgia, went first to the Kansas City Chiefs at No. 163 overall (23rd of the fifth round). A.J. McCarron, who won two national championships at Alabama, went one pick later to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Still waiting is LSU’s Zach Mettenberger, who, like Murray, had his 2013 season ended by an ACL injury.
Both Murray and McCarron will be stuck behind proven quarterbacks when they show up at camp. Andy Dalton has had his share of postseason issues in Cincinnati, but he's not going anywhere soon. Long-term contract talks between the Chiefs and Alex Smith have reportedly been rocky, but he's locked in as the starter in Kansas City for at least another year.
The starting guards on the 2013 AP All-American team also had to wait until the fifth round, then went eight spots apart. Stanford's David Yankey got picked up by the Minnesota Vikings with the 145th pick, then the Buffalo Bills grabbed Baylor's Cyril Richardson at No. 153.
