SB Nation 2014 NFL Draft

NFL Draft results: The Dallas Cowboys have drafted defensive end Demarcus Lawrence with the No. 34 overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft. Dallas traded up to the pick, giving the Washington Redskins the No. 47 overall and No. 78 overall picks in this draft.

Lawrence was ranked No. 37 on SB Nation's top 200 big board and No. 4 among all defensive ends, behind Jadeveon Clowney, Kony Ealy and Dee Ford. He should be in the mix for the starting left end job in Dallas.

Lawrence was named a first-team All-MWC player in both 2012 and 2013. In 2012 with Boise State, he put up 24 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks, along with four forced fumbles. In 2013, he improved on those numbers with 39 tackles, 20.5 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks. He also managed three forced fumbles and a pass deflection.

Combine results

Height: 6’3

Weight: 251 pounds

40-yard dash: 4.80 seconds

Bench press: 20 reps

Vertical jump: 34.5”

Broad jump: 9’5

3-cone drill: 7.46 seconds

Lawrence was an effective pass rusher for Boise State and is considered a high-ceiling guy for the NFL. Unfortunately, his combine performance was somewhat disappointing, though he did manage to improve on his 40-yard dash time at his pro day, posting a 4.69.
