Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe will be suspended for the first game of the 2014 regular season, per Rand Getlin.
Dwayne Bowe suspended for 1 game
The Chiefs’ top wide receiver will reportedly miss one game after being arrested for marijuana possession last November.

Hearing #Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe will be suspended by the NFL for one game in relation to a marijuana possession arrest from last year.
— Rand Getlin (@Rand_Getlin) August 15, 2014 Bowe was originally pulled over for speeding last November and was subsequently arrested when the officer smelled marijuana in the car. A total of 14.6 grams were found in the vehicle.
Both Dwayne Bowe and the Chiefs have released statements on the matter.
Dwayne Bowe’s statement begins: "I am extremely sorry that I can’t be on the field for the first game of 2014. I made an error in judgment."
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) August 15, 2014 Dwayne has been given a one-game suspension by the National Football League. We are disappointed in the situation and will miss him on the field, but we support the league’s decision. The club will have no further comment on the matter.
Bowe has already made the wrong kind of headlines for the Chiefs this preseason due to a finger injury, with head coach Andy Reid noting that "he hasn't had a great camp." Unfortunately for the Chiefs, Bowe is also the team's top wide receiver by a country mile. Others on the roster vying for some of the top slots include Donnie Avery, Junior Hemingway, A.J. Jenkins, and Kyle Williams.
If Bowe misses the team's first game of the regular season, it will be the Week 1 affair at home against the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 7.
