Robert Griffin III is facing criticism from all angles these days, but according to Rick Snider of the The Washington Post, the Washington quarterback simply needs to let loose and go play his game, which is a lot easier said than done.
RG3 needs to find his confidence
Robert Griffin III is facing criticism and a burgeoning quarterback controversy. What does he need to do? According to some, he simply needs to be Robert Griffin III.

Remember when everybody loved Robert Griffin III?
Now entering his third season in the NFL, the trendy thing is to pile on the Washington quarterback. After a subpar second season -- you know, the one where he was trying to come back from a major knee injury -- and an underwhelming preseason this year, Griffin’s bandwagon of critics is growing.
So, too, is their choice of firepower. Whether it’s how he supposedly doesn’t get along with teammates or will just never learn how to slide to prevent injury, praise for Griffin has suddenly become a rarity.
And amid all of this, according to Rick Snider of The Washington Post, Griffin needs to find a way to regain his confidence ... and fast.
Griffin needs to breathe deep and just go play.
“It’s a little bit of everything,” coach Jay Gruden said. “[Hesitating] could be a function of him not trusting the coverage, not trusting his footwork, but that’s something that he’s got to get out of. ... He’s got to let some things fly.”
Then again, Griffin has also been knocked for that exact style of play he was once lauded for. And the growing sentiment is that he could soon find himself in a full-fledged quarterback controversy with backup Kirk Cousins if he doesn't tweak his game.
So with that confusion, add in that Griffin is also trying to learn a brand-new offense under Gruden. There are sure to be growing pains, especially when Washington can’t yet figure out if it’s a running or passing team.
And it sure doesn’t seem like Griffin is going to have much time to work things out in his own game. Quarterbacks love having backups breathing down their necks, right?
