The Dallas Cowboys' defense was dealt another frustrating blow Thursday, as safety Jakar Hamilton was suspended four games by the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Cowboys DB Jakar Hamilton suspended 4 games
The depth of the Dallas Cowboys’ historically bad defense took another hit, as safety Jakar Hamilton was suspended four games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

Hamilton, who is entering his second season in the league, was undrafted out of South Carolina State. He was signed by Dallas in April 2013, waived in August and then signed to the practice squad, eventually suiting up in three games for the Cowboys last season.
Hamilton was already on shaky ground when it came to cracking the Cowboys’ 53-man roster, and the four-game suspension certainly isn’t going to help his cause. He was also dealing with a hamstring injury that was already putting his chances at a roster spot in jeopardy.
But at the same time, the Cowboys’ defense remains in utter shambles and hasn’t improved much from a squad that gave up the most yards in the NFL last year. So Hamilton’s one saving grace could be that the defense needs as much help as it can get.
