Adrian Peterson tells Jerry Jones he’d play for Cowboys
Could Adrian Peterson be headed to Dallas in the future?

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson reportedly told Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones in a June telephone call that he would like to play for the Cowboys at the end of his career, according to ESPN's Outside the Lines.
Jones was in a suite at AT&T Stadium for a concert on June 7 when a friend of Jones' handed the phone to him with Peterson on the other end, per the report. The telephone call is "recounted" as part of an Outside the Lines/ESPN The Magazine profile of Jones by ESPN senior writer Don Van Natta Jr.:

“Well, we’ll see what we can do, if we can make that happen”, Jones replied.“Hmm hmm ... I’d like that, too ... Well, we’re talking pig Latin here, but let’s see if we can do that ... We’re talking pig Latin here, but let’s see what we can do about that. OK, Adrian, thanks.”
Natta did not hear Peterson explicitly tell Jones he wanted to play for the Cowboys, but listening to half of the conversation he believed that was what Peterson said on the other end.
Peterson, a Texas native, is in the fourth year of a seven-year, $100 million contract with the Vikings and will earn $11.75 million this season.
The NFL’s player tampering rules specifically prohibit teams from contacting players who are under contract on other teams. Jones confirmed that Peterson told him he wanted to play for the Cowboys, according to the ESPN report, but he has not talked with Peterson since the call and did not believe the conversation was tampering.
Statements from the Vikings and Peterson were posted on the team website in response to the story:
Statement from the Vikings:
“We are focused on the 2014 season, and as we have consistently communicated, Adrian is an integral part of the Vikings organization.”Statement from Adrian Peterson:
“This was a casual conversation between NFL colleagues in which I never indicated I wanted to leave the Vikings. I have always said I understand the NFL is a business but that I would love to retire as a Viking.”
