Saints RB Mark Ingram is expected to miss about a month with a hand injury he suffered Sunday, per source.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) September 15, 2014 Ingram has been the Saints featured running back so far in 2014 with 24 carries for 143 yards and three rushing touchdowns. He also has four catches for 22 yards. Ingram has yet to truly break out since the Saints took the former Alabama back in the first round in the 2011 NFL Draft, but the 24-year-old has looked strong so far this year.
The Saints have Khiry Robinson and Pierre Thomas on the roster to step up in Ingram's absence. Robinson has 14 rushes for 59 yards and one touchdown so far on the season, while Thomas has 10 carries for 47 yards.
If Ingram misses four weeks, a potential return date could come after the Saints bye on Oct. 19 against the Detroit Lions.
