Adrian Peterson not expected to return to Vikings, per report

Chris Mortensen says a team source doesn’t envision the star running back to return to the team after being indicted on child abuse charges.

The Minnesota Vikings do not expect running back Adrian Peterson to be a part of their future, per ESPN reporter Chris Mortensen.

Peterson is currently on the NFL’s exempt list and has been barred by the Vikings from any activities after Peterson was indicted for reckless or negligent injury to a child on Sept. 12. The Vikings deactivated Peterson from playing in Week 2, and placed Peterson on the exempt list the following Wednesday.

Peterson is also facing a protective court order filed on Friday that would bar him from any unsupervised or unauthorized contact with his 4-year-old son. Charges were filed against Peterson after the child came home to his mother with bruises from a switch Peterson reportedly used discipline him.

A complete timeline of the case against Peterson can be found here.
