Blake Bortles didn't have to sit for the entire season after all. The Jacksonville Jaguars have officially named Bortles as starting quarterback for Week 4 on the road against the San Diego Chargers.
Blake Bortles named Jaguars starting quarterback
Gus Bradley has officially made the move to start the team’s first-round pick from the 2014 NFL Draft.

Jaguars HC Gus Bradley announced QB Blake Bortles will start next week.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) September 21, 2014 Bortles was originally supposed to sit out the entire season as an understudy to incumbent starter Chad Henne. The idea was to transition the rookie slowly to the pro level. However, Henne's inability to get anything going on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts changed those plans.
Bortles had mixed results in relief of Henne in a 44-17 loss to the Colts, but the signs were there that the Jags could move the chains. Given a full week of planning, there’s reason for Jags fans to hope for better offensive results.
Bortles finished 14 of 24 for 223 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw two interceptions. Bortles finished his first game with an 82.5 passer rating.
