DeAngelo Williams injury: Panthers RB ‘doubtful’ to play against Bears in Week 5

DeAngelo Williams headlines a long list of running back injuries for the Carolina Panthers.

Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams was forced out early in Sunday's game at Baltimore with a foot injury. Now his head coach says he'll miss even more time while he recovers, which puts the Panthers in a tough situation with all the other injuries in the backfield.

During his Monday media availability, Panthers coach Ron Rivera all but eliminated Williams' chances of playing against the Bears in Week 5, citing the same foot the tailback injured against the Ravens.

The former first-round pick has 25 carries for 106 yards in two games so far on the season, including just 34 yards on 11 carries in Sunday’s blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Williams' absence comes at a particularly bad time for Carolina. The Panthers are already without running backs Mike Tolbert (short-term injured reserve), Jonathan Stewart (knee) and Fozzy Whittaker (quad). In the interim, Carolina will lean on undrafted rookie tailback Darrin Reaves.
