Chiefs break Guinness crowd noise record vs. Patriots

Arrowhead Stadium once again owns the world record for crowd noise.

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

The crowd at Arrowhead Stadium broke a world record for noise level Monday night, and now owns the top spot for the second time in a year.

During the Chiefs' Week 4 game against the New England Patriots, the noise level reached 142.2 decibels, which broke the previous outdoor stadium record of 137.6 decibels, which set last December in Seattle. The Seahawks' crowd noise record had beaten Arrowhead Stadium's previous record, which fleetingly stood at 137.5 decibels.

The crowd noise record was set in the second quarter.

Arrowhead Stadium has regained the crowd noise record after losing it Week 14 last season, when CenturyLink Field set the record during a Monday night game against the New Orleans Saints.

The crowd noise record was actually broken three times in 2013, with the Seahawks doing it twice and the Chiefs once in October. With Arrowhead Stadium once again owning the record, the NFL is watching one of its more intriguingly odd rivalries develop.
