NFL odds 2014, Week 1: Seahawks’ Super Bowl defense begins at home against Packers
The Seattle Seahawks open at home as favorites against the Green Bay Packers.

It's a new year, but the Seahawks so thoroughly dominated the Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl that it makes sense for them to be favored so high in an opener -- especially as the league's best defense has remained largely intact and quarterback Russell Wilson enters his third season. Seattle also continues to have one of the youngest rosters in the league, which has the team thinking repeat.
Week 1: Packers vs. Seahawks
But the Seahawks will be tested early by Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, who won the NFC North last season. Green Bay's offense is as talented as anybody's (especially with the return of a healthy Randall Cobb), while the defense is fighting the perception that it's a liability. There is no better way to prove that than by sticking it to the champs in their own home Week 1.
The Packers are 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 games, while the Seahawks have been rewarding bettors by going 8-2 ATS in their last 10 and 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games at home. With the over/under set at 46.5 points, it’s also important to note that the total has gone under in Seattle’s last five home games.
