The Jets are looking to get over the. 500 hump this season while the Raiders are rolling with rookie quarterback Derek Carr right from the start.

The Jets brought in a number of new faces -- including wide receiver Eric Decker and running back Chris Johnson -- to try and get over the 8-8 hump. They'll be looking for quarterback Geno Smith to take the next step in his development, but if he doesn't, they brought in Michael Vick as insurance.
The Raiders...well, they're the Raiders. They'll want to avoid their 12th straight losing season, but that doesn't seem likely, even if rookie quarterback Derek Carr offers some hope for the future. Still, a few SB Nation experts gave them a Week 1 win.

These are two teams that brought in a lot of new players in an attempt to reverse their downward spirals. Will that be enough to mask their flaws? The course of the season will tell, but Week 1 will be a good test.
