Quarterback Blake Bortles, the third-overall pick in the 2014 draft, could be the most exciting player the Jacksonville Jaguars have. But the rookie isn't starting, as the Jaguars have elected to ease him into the league.
How to watch Jaguars vs. Eagles 2014: Time, TV schedule, radio, online streaming and more
The Jacksonville Jaguars take on the Eagles in Philadelphia Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. Jaguars rookie quarterback Blake Bortles is on the sidelines for now, while the Eagles hope to improve on last season’s surprising success.

Instead, Chad Henne will once again be under center for the Jaguars, who seem to have a revolving door at wide receiver and are just trying to find some guys who can offer stability at the position. The team will be without Justin Blackmon indefinitely and Ace Sanders for four games, though Marqise Lee has been impressive so far.
As for the Philadelphia Eagles, can they replicate the same offensive success as last season? With gimmick offenses, opposing teams eventually catch up, but Chip Kelly's Eagles could be the exception to the rule. A lot of that depends on quarterback Nick Foles and whether he can be the same dynamic player over the long haul.
However, it always helps to have the league’s leading rusher in LeSean McCoy. But a high-powered offense can’t get a team far without a solid defense to back it up. The Eagles gave up the fourth-most yards last season, which is going to have to improve for there to be a deep playoff run.

Nuts and bolts
On paper at least, this shouldn’t be much of a contest. Despite the offseason departure of DeSean Jackson, the Eagles are primed to relaunch an offensive that ranked second in yards and fourth in points a year ago. The Jags, on the other hand, ranked 31st and 32nd in those stats -- and barring Toby Gerhard morphing into Adrian Peterson, that’s not likely to change drastically this year. Bortles may yet lead Jacksonville to an offensive renaissance, but he’ll have to be on the field first.
