The weather in Phoenix and the surrounding areas has put the status of Monday night's San Diego Chargers vs. Arizona Cardinals season opener into question.
Arizona flooding could impact Chargers vs. Cardinals game
Here are the most up-to-date weather reports for tonight’s Chargers vs. Cardinals game.
Rainfall over Phoenix has made Monday the wettest day on record, causing flash floods and making many roadways impassible. This is what Interstate 10 looked like before and after today’s rainfall:

— Mike Seidel (@mikeseidel) September 8, 2014 As of 4:00 p.m. ET, thunderstorms and heavy rain have subsided for Phoenix and the surrounding areas such as Glendale, the location of University of Phoenix Stadium. However, a flash flood watch will remain in effect through 8:00 p.m. ET.
If the roadways do not clear up far enough in advance of tonight’s 10:20 p.m. ET kickoff, the NFL will have to seriously consider postponing the game. The league last had to reschedule a game due to inclement weather in 2010 when snow forced the suspension of a Vikings vs. Eagles tilt. That game was played the following Tuesday.
