Trent Richardson's disappointing run with the Indianapolis Colts hit a new low last week when he was a healthy scratch from the Divisional round playoff game against the Broncos. According to the third-year running back, that was a one-time deal.
Trent Richardson says getting benched ‘will never happen to me again’
He then turned around and said he’s unsure whether he’ll be active in the AFC Championship.

“That situation will never happen to me again,” he told the Indianapolis Star. “Anybody can quote me, today, because it’s never going to happen again.”
It isn't up to Richardson, though. He's been trading reps between fourth-string running back and special teams in practice this week and he said he's unsure whether he'll be listed as active Sunday in the AFC Championship against the New England Patriots.
“Whatever coach do, I’m going to agree with it, I’m going to be happy with it, because that’s what’s best for the team,” Richardson said. “If he call me up and tell me I’m going to be playing, I’m going to be ready. If not, I’m going to be cheering my teammates on because it’s their game.”
Richardson said head coach Chuck Pagano told him before last week’s game that the team’s other running backs would help the team more than him.
“I guess those other guys were hotter,” he said.
Rumors of the 2012 No. 3 overall pick’s weight issues have been frequent this year, but he squarely denied them when questioned.
“Weight issue? Weight ain’t never been an issue,” Richardson said. “I ain’t never went into a game over 230 (pounds). If it’s a weight issue, I’d like to be told that. I was sick for a while, that’s what I thought it was, that’s what I heard. You know better than me. You know more than I know.”
Boom Herron is the latest back to supplant Richardson at the top of the depth chart. The former sixth-round pick posted 141 total yards and touchdown in the opening playoff game against the Bengals, then put up 95 and another score against the Broncos.
