Former Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone has cancelled his head coach interview with the Denver Broncos on Saturday. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Marrone wants to wait and see what happens with Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak, who is scheduled to interview with Denver on Sunday.
Doug Marrone cancels interview with Broncos, Gary Kubiak now the lead candidate
Reports indicate that the former Bills coach wants to wait and see if Denver offers the job to Kubiak.

Despite his statement last week that he plans to stay on as coordinator in Baltimore, Kubiak is perceived to be the favorite to replace John Fox. ESPN’s Ed Werder reports that John Harbaugh and the Ravens expect Kubiak to take the position. If Marrone believes Kubiak will be offered the job, he may be electing not to waste his time.
Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin was supposed to be interviewed Friday, but also withdrew from consideration.
Marrone and Kubiak join Vance Joseph and Adam Gase as candidates for the Denver opening. Marrone coached for two seasons with the Bills, going 6-10 in 2013 before enjoying a 9-7 campaign in 2014. However, he exercised his opt-out clause to leave Buffalo, something built into his contract which was triggered by the sale of the team to Terry Pegula.
The major question hanging over this opening is whether quarterback Peyton Manning will return for another season. Turning 39 years old in March, Manning has been non-committal about his future. With a roster bonus due on the third day of the new league year (which begins March 10), Manning does not have much reason to rush until that point, when the team will likely press for an answer.
