After suffering through a litany of injuries in 2013, New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski returned this season to post 12 touchdowns and lead all tight ends with 1,124 receiving yards. His reward is being named the 2014 Comeback Player of the Year by the Professional Football Writers of America.
Rob Gronkowski named 2014 Comeback Player of the Year, Vic Fangio interviewing with Washington
Gronk bounced back from injury to lead all tight ends in receiving this season. In Washington, Jay Gruden has put off his decision to hire Joe Barry in order to interview Vic Fangio.

Gronk missed all of the 2013 preseason and the first six games while recovering from complications from forearm surgery. Then, just two months after his return, he tore his ACL and missed the rest of the season.
But the gregarious tight end brushed aside his injury concerns in 2014, playing in all but one regular season game. He went for over 90 yards receiving in seven games, including a 108-yard, one-touchdown night against the Ravens in New England's Divisional playoff win.
Fangio will interview for Washington defensive coordinator job
Jay Gruden seemed set on hiring Chargers linebacker coach Joe Barry as his next defensive coordinator, but the hiring of Jim Tomsula as the head coach in San Francisco seems to have reshuffled the 49ers' priorities. With that job sewn up, San Francisco defensive coordinator Vic Fangio is still on the job market.
Fangio, a former coordinator with the Panthers, Colts and Texans, is set to interview with Washington this weekend, according to Ian Rapoport. Gruden has reportedly ruled out current defensive backs coach Raheem Morris.
Adam Gase remains a hot commodity for NFL teams looking to fill a coaching vacancy. A finalist for the now-filled 49ers job and a candidate to replace John Fox in Denver, he could be adding interviews with the Falcons, Rams and Jaguars. All three teams have requested to speak with him, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
St. Louis and Jacksonville, who already have head coaches, are interested in Gase as an offensive coordinator, a capacity he’s filled with Denver for the past two seasons. Atlanta, which has already interviewed Gase once for its vacant head coach position, may still be interested in him as a coordinator if he doesn’t get the top job.
Raiders hire Tice as O-line coach
The Falcons, hoping to let their eventual new head coach decide which staff to retain, reportedly blocked the Raiders’ request to interview Mike Tice earlier this week. Something changed between now and then because Tice has been hired as the offensive line coach in Oakland, according to Michael Silver.
