Rob Gronkowski wouldn't get drawn into a war of words when questioned about a Seahawks cornerback's claim that he's overrated, but the star Patriots tight end did hint that the comment rubbed him the wrong way.
Super Bowl 2015: Rob Gronkowski says Jeremy Lane’s criticism ‘may’ have ticked him off
Gronkowski largely steered clear of acknowledging his opponent’s trash talk from earlier in the week.
“It may,” Gronkowski quipped when asked Friday whether Jeremy Lane’s trash talk ticks him off, according to ESPN.
That was as far as Gronk would go, however.
“Everyone is entitled to their own opinion,” Gronkowski said. “... I just gotta keep working hard at practice, keep bringing it at practice, keep preparing and keep getting ready.”
Lane made headlines -- which, despite Gronkowski's restraint, are probably tacked to a bulletin board in the New England locker room -- when he suggested earlier this week that would be able to shut Gronkowski down in the Super Bowl.
“I actually don’t think he’s that good,” Lane said. “He’s OK. He does have a big body. But from what I’ve seen on tape, he doesn’t like you putting your hands on him. So if we put our hands on him and shake him up a little bit, he won’t catch that many balls.”
