A.J. Green ruled out against Colts
The Bengals will be without one of the premier wide receivers in the NFL with A.J. Green ruled out due to a concussion.
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green has been ruled out of the Bengals wild card game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday due to a concussion. Green suffered the injury in Week 17 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and failed to practice all week while undergoing concussion protocol.
Green has been one of the most prolific receivers in the game since being drafted out of Georgia in 2011. A four-year veteran, he has eclipsed 1,000 yards in each campaign. The Bengals have made the playoffs each year Green has played, only to lose in the first round every time.
Without Green, the Bengals are going to have a tough time throwing the ball against Indianapolis. Top corner Vontae Davis can move to Mohamed Sanu, who became the main receiving threat when Green was sidelined with a toe injury against the Colts in Week 7. Cincinnati lost that game 27-0 and Dalton had a miserable day, completing 18-of-38 passes for 126 yards.
The Bengals’ offensive struggles have been a main culprit in their first-round playoff exits the last three years. Trying to snap that streak without arguably their best player isn’t what they had in mind.
