NFL playoff picks and predictions, Lions vs. Cowboys 2015: Dallas heavy favorite
The Cowboys are finally back in the playoffs, and the experts expect them to stay there.
What happens when one of the league’s most dominant defenses goes up against one its most prolific offenses? Unanimously, NFL experts are going with the offense.
The Cowboys offense, to be specific. Every one of the 35 panelists polled at SB Nation, ESPN, CBS Sports and Fox Sports are picking Dallas at home over the Lions in their Wild Card playoff matchup.
Detroit owns the No. 2 defense in the league, giving up just 300 yards and 17.6 points per game. But the Lions were exposed in a 30-20 loss on the road in Green Bay last week, when a hobbled Aaron Rodgers completed 77 percent of his passes for 226 yards and a pair of scores, and the Packers racked up 152 yards on the ground.
Eddie Lacy went for 100 yards, something that should concern the league's No. 1 run defense as it prepares to face DeMarco Murray. The Cowboys running back led the league with 1,845 rushing yards and has three Pro Bowl linemen paving the way for him. Fortunately for the Lions, they will have defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh available to help disrupt that ground attack. Initially suspended one game for stepping on Rodgers' ankle last week, Suh successfully appealed the ban and has been cleared to play.
