Eight years after a shooting incident instigated by Adam Jones left two security guards wounded, the Cincinnati Bengals cornerback has been ordered to pay $12.4 million to the victims after his appeal was shut down by the Nevada Supreme Court, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Court orders Adam Jones to pay $12.4 million to shooting victims
The Nevada Supreme Court upheld a lower court’s ruling on Friday, ordering Jones to pay damages for a 2007 incident that left one man paralyzed.

Jones was initially ordered to make the payment in 2012. The decision by the court on Friday upheld the ruling of a lower court.
Nearly $11 million will be awarded to Thomas Urbanski, who was left paralyzed from the waist down after taking a bullet. Aaron Cudworth, who was less seriously injured after being shot, will receive $1.3 million.
Jones’ lawyer Lisa Rasmussen has previously said that her client can’t afford to pay the damages.
Though Jones never pulled a trigger, the courts ruled that he was responsible for starting the melee at a Las Vegas strip club in 2007 that ended in gunfire. Jones reportedly threw handfuls of money on stage, touching off a fight between two dancers that quickly spread. It ended with a man who Jones claims he never met firing a gun in front of the building, striking Urbanski and Cudworth.
Jones received probation for his role in the incident.
