Baltimore’s late rally was squashed by an elite Joe Flacco interception

Joe Flacco didn’t have many choices here, but that probably doesn’t excuse this duck.

The Ravens came storming back against the Cardinals. Down 26-10 thanks to a missed Arizona extra point, Baltimore blocked an Arizona punt with five minutes to go, scored a TD, got a stop and brought the ball down to the 4-yard line. And then things came to a screeching halt:

On the one hand, it's hard to blame Joe Flacco too much. Nobody was open, he was about to be rocked by two blitzers and there were 10 seconds left in the game with no timeouts left. If he got sacked, the game was over. He had to get rid of it and there was nobody to give it to.

On the other hand: Man, that's an uuuugly game-losing interception. Crockett Gillmore is 6'6, but he might not have caught this if he was nine feet tall. Flacco just floated it up and missed by quite a bit. There was enough time on the clock for Flacco to hurl the ball out of the back of the end zone, he probably should've done that.

And thus, the Cardinals held on for a 26-18 win.

In conclusion: Joe Flacco may or may not be elite.
