Rams vs. Packers 2015 picks and predictions: No upset expected at Lambeau Field on Sunday

The Packers haven’t lost a home game since 2013 and are looking like the best team in the NFC, but the Rams have a history off pulling off stunning upsets.

On paper, the matchup between the St. Louis Rams and Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field looks like it should be an easy win for the home team.

The Packers are 4-0, probably the closest thing to a complete team in the NFC and haven’t lost a home game since 2013. The Rams are 2-2, including a loss on the road to a rebuilding Washington team, and are averaging a league-worst 287.8 yards of total offense per game.

But this is exactly the type of game that the Jekyll-and-Hyde Rams have a chance to win. St. Louis just knocked off the previously undefeated Arizona Cardinals last Sunday, and its other win this season came in Week 1 against the defending NFC champion Seattle Seahawks. This isn't a one-season fluke, either. Last year, two of the Rams' six wins came against a couple of the league's superpowers, the Seahawks and Denver Broncos. For whatever reason, they seem to rise to the occasion when facing their toughest opponents.

This Sunday's matchup against the Packers at Lambeau is their biggest challenge yet. Green Bay is firing on all cylinders and playing at an extremely high level on both sides of the ball. On offense, Aaron Rodgers is enjoying a historic season -- he is one of three players ever with at least 11 touchdown passes and no interceptions in his team's first four games -- and the Packers are averaging 28 points per game. The defense is allowing just 17.8 points per game (tied for third-best in NFL) and leads the league in sack rate (13.0 percent).

The Packers are also pretty much unstoppable at Lambeau Field right now. They have won 11 straight home games (including playoffs), the league’s longest active streak, and Rodgers hasn’t thrown a pick at home in nearly three years. During the streak, they’re averaging a staggering 37 points per game and are outscoring their opponents by more than 16 points per contest.

The experts are going with the safe bet here and taking Green Bay in almost a complete sweep. Seven of the eight guys at CBS Sports have the Packers and nearly the entire ESPN crew is picking Green Bay. Here at SB Nation headquarters, our fearless panel is going with the Packers across the board.
