Darrelle Revis suffers concussion vs. Texans

Revis was struggling against DeAndre Hopkins before leaving the game with a concussion.

A rough day for New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis got worse when he suffered a concussion that sent him to the locker room. He was questionable to return from the injury and was replaced on the field by second-year cornerback Marcus Williams. Head coach Todd Bowles confirmed after the game that Revis sustained a concussion, which is why he did not return to the game.

Prior to the injury, Revis was struggling to cover Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who had five receptions for 118 yards and two touchdowns Sunday. His second touchdown, a 20-yard grab over Williams, came immediately after Revis left the game.

Revis, 30, is back with the Jets in 2015 after two seasons away from the team, spending 2013 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and 2014 with the New England Patriots. In March he signed a five-year, $70 million deal with the Jets that included $39 million guaranteed.

Williams first entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Texans in 2014, but joined the Jets during his rookie season and started eight games. He has two starts for the Jets in 2015 and leads the team with four interceptions.
