Eddie Lacy scored a 25-yard receiving touchdown for the Packers against the Bears. But if we peek at the end of his run... did he accidentally let go of the ball an instant before crossing the goal line?
Did Eddie Lacy score this touchdown, or did he pull a DeSean Jackson?
GUYS. Just hold onto the ball until you’re sure you’re in the end zone! Please!

Lacy was obviously well on his way to scoring, but from time to time, we see players accidentally cost themselves a touchdown by flipping the ball in celebration a second too soon. DeSean Jackson is the famous one, but Utah’s Kaelin Clay (who, in a funny coincidence, went to Jackson’s high school and initially committed to Cal to be like Jackson) also did it.
Lacy’s touchdown is about as close as you can get. Here’s the last frame we have with him holding the ball:
And here’s the first frame we have of him not holding the ball:
I... I really can’t tell! Remember, only the tip of the ball needs to break the plane of the end zone, so if I had to pick, I’d say it crosses. It definitely wasn’t enough to overturn. But, guys, just hold onto the ball a second longer. It can only help.
