Three weeks ago, Joseph Randle was the starting running back on the Dallas Cowboys. Now, he doesn't have a job. The Cowboys released Randle on Tuesday, as first reported by Clarence Hill of the Star-Telegram.
Cowboys cut former starting RB Joseph Randle
The Cowboys sever ties with their former feature back.

Randle entered the year as the leading candidate to replace former Dallas starter DeMarco Murray, who departed for the Philadelphia Eagles during free agency. At times, Randle looked capable of filling the All-Pro's shoes. In Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons, he shined with a 14-carry, 87-yard, three-touchdown performance. Still, Randle left plenty of meat on the bone, averaging just 4.1 yards per attempt behind one of the most decorated offensive lines in football.
During the Cowboys' Week 6 bye, the coaching staff inserted veteran Darren McFadden as the team's feature back. In the two games since, McFadden produced 275 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown. With Randle dealing with a back injury and facing a suspension for violation the NFL's personal conduct policy, Dallas apparently decided to wash its hands of the former starter.
Randle ranks second in the league this season in average yards after contact (2.43) behind only the Seattle Seahawks' Thomas Rawls. He finishes his Cowboys career with 181 rushes for 822 yards and nine touchdowns.
