Jaguars vs. Saints 2015 picks and predictions: Experts mixed on whether Jacksonville stays in playoff race

Both the Jacksonville Jaguars and New Orleans Saints have identical 5-9 records entering their matchup at the Superdome on Sunday, but only one team still has something to play for this weekend. Despite being four games under .500 in late December, the Jaguars are still alive in the AFC South race.

Jacksonville needs to win out against the Saints and Texans, while also hoping that the Titans beat the Texans in Week 16 and the Colts in Week 17. That would create a three-way tie at 7-9 atop the division, and the Jags would be the champ based on a superior conference record. The chance of that scenario playing out in real life is slim -- Football Outsiders has them with 3.5 percent odds to make the playoffs -- but at least the Jaguars have a rallying cry for Sunday's game.

The other looming question in New Orleans is whether Drew Brees will be on the field. He is nursing a painful foot injury and Payton told reporters Wednesday that his status is "day to day." Matt Flynn and Garrett Grayson would be next in line to start the game if Brees can't go. Obviously either of those guys would be a significant downgrade, but Grayson could be an interesting option to give the rookie some regular season, live-game experience.
