United States president Barack Obama will sit down for an interview with Savannah Guthrie on NBC during the 4 p.m. ET hour of its pregame show, leading into Super Bowl XLIX. Barack Obama Super Bowl 2015 interview: Time, TV schedule and more
The president of the free world will sit down and talk on a variety of topics.
Guthrie, 43, became a White House correspondent for NBC News in 2008 and remained in that role through 2011 before joining Today in 2012. Guthrie graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in journalism in 1993 before receiving her law degree from Georgetown University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Guthrie also took the Arizona bar exam in July 2002 and scored the highest of 634 people.
Guthrie is the latest in a long line of reporters getting the Obama interview. Preceding O’Reilly’s 2014 interview with Obama, CBS had Scott Pelley take on the task. The last two times NBC had the Super Bowl rights, including 2012, Lauer sat opposite the president. For Guthrie, this is the first time she will speak with Obama since 2013.
The NBC pregame show will run throughout the afternoon, featuring everything from football strategy with Rodney Harrison, Tony Dungy and John Harbaugh, to Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir interviewing celebrities. Plenty of other NBC personalities will be involved, including Peter King, Mike Florio, Bob Costas, Josh Elliott, Hines Ward, Jimmy Roberts and more.
The Super Bowl itself will follow NBC’s pregame coverage, beginning at 6:30 p.m ET. The Seattle Seahawks are looking for their second consecutive Super Bowl title, while the New England Patriots are vying for their four championship since 2001.
