The Green Bay Packers have waived tight end Brandon Bostick, the player confirmed via Twitter on Monday. Bostick was one of four tight ends on the roster and not a starter, but you probably remember him as the guy who jumped for and knocked away an onside kick in the NFC Championship against the Seattle Seahawks.
Packers waive NFC Championship goat Brandon Bostick
You might remember Bostick as the guy who botched an onside kick recovery against the Seahawks.

With 2:09 left in that game, the Seahawks kicked onside and the ball was going straight for sure-handed receiver Jordy Nelson. But Bostick, who was supposed to be blocking on the play, got in the way and Seattle ultimately recovered the onside kick.
Green Bay wound up losing that game in overtime, 28-22, and the Seahawks went on to the Super Bowl.
Following the game, Bostick admitted that he was supposed to be blocking, but that he “felt like” he had his hands on the ball. He was pretty hard on himself, saying that he let the Packers down, though there were plenty of reasons Green Bay came up short in the game.
It's certainly possible his release was related to his huge mistake in NFC Championship, but it's also worth noting that 2014 was his second season on an NFL roster, and he's caught just nine passes thus far in his career. His 2014 season saw him active in 13 games, with just two receptions for 3 yards and a touchdown. He had trouble staying healthy down the stretch and the Packers still have Andrew Quarless, Richard Rodgers and Justin Perillo at the tight end position.

Despite all of that, Bostick is just 25 years old and remains optimistic about his chances to land with another NFL team.
