The main attraction at any NFL combine is the 40-yard dash. The drill is the measuring stick for straight-line speed in football circles and has been the standard since Paul Brown began using it in the 1950s. Bettors can wager on the times produced by high-profile prospects like Oregon’s Marcus Mariota or Florida State’s Jameis Winston. Fans can also put money on whether the top time will be over or under 4.28 seconds or if a player breaks Chris Johnson’s combine record of 4.24 seconds.
For the true betting degenerate, odds have been placed on whether NFL Network personality Rich Eisen runs above or below a 6.05 40-yard dash. Eisen has rather famously run the drill every year of the combine in his suit and dress shoes. He set a new personal best last year with a time of 5.98 seconds.
