Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider respects that Marshawn Lynch needs time to determine his future with the team and has made that known to his star player. However, Schneider also needs to run his team and has let Lynch's representatives know that the Seahawks would like an answer as soon as possible.
Seahawks want an answer from Marshawn Lynch soon
The Seahawks respect that Marshawn Lynch needs some time to make up his mind about playing next year. But they’d still like a decision soon.

With NFL free agency beginning on March 10, Schneider needs to have knowledge of Lynch’s direction by that point. Rumors have persisted that Lynch might opt to retire rather than return for another season. Schneider is comfortable with Lynch taking some time to determine what he wants.
“Everybody needs time away, especially at that position and the way he runs the ball,” Schneider said.
Schneider talked about Lynch being “a heartbeat guy” but did acknowledge he is hoping to know the decision in short order.
Lynch is the engine of Seattle’s offense along with quarterback Russell Wilson. The man known as Beast Mode led the NFL with 17 touchdowns in the regular season before tacking on a pair of score in the playoffs. Lynch, a nine-year veteran who has spent his last five seasons with Seattle, has 8,695 career rushing yards and 71 touchdowns.
In 2014, Lynch amassed 1,306 rushing yards, his fourth straight 1,000-yard campaign. The running back is due $8.5 million this season before becoming a free agent.
The Seahawks have quality backs behind Lynch in Robert Turbin and Christine Michael, but might want to add some depth should Lynch walk away. If Schneider prefers, he could wait until the draft, which takes place April 30, to make any significant moves at the position.
