The Browns have a new logo that looks like the old logo

One of the most iconic franchises in sports got a minor makeover on Tuesday.

The Cleveland Browns unveiled a new logo on Tuesday, along with changing the colors of the helmet and facemask, per the official team website. The helmet, which remains without an emblem, is now a darker shade of orange while the facemask was changed from gray to brown. The team's logo goes from being a picture of the helmet to a snarling dog with the words DAWG POUND underneath, replacing the previous dog which was simply a face without words.

The uniforms will be presented on April 14 and will follow suit in terms of color, according to Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland. The wordmark also was given an update with the font going to a bolder look below the helmet.

There was ample speculation to whether Cleveland would seriously alter its classic look, which dates back to the glory days of Otto Graham, Paul Brown and Jim Brown. While the team has made occasional alterations such as brown pants, orange pants and even numbers on the helmets at one point, the jersey has remained virtually untouched.

While the uniform will not be shown off for another six weeks, it appears the main crux of the uniform will stay the same. Brownie the Elf will also remain a part of the team as a secondary logo, and will get the color update, per Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
