SMARTEST GUY IN THE ROOM: It’s not officially spring until we get leaked Wonderlic scores, and we got those Tuesday night when it was revealed that Jameis Winston got a 27, one point shy of Peyton Manning’s. Who leaked it, I don’t know, but with a recent round of reports questioning whether or not Winston would be the first pick in the draft, leaking that number certainly doesn’t hurt him.
Rise ‘n Grind: Who leaked the Wonderlic scores?
And now we know just how well Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota take standardized tests. It’s officially draft season!
WINSTON THE JET: No, it’s not going to happen, but if things were a little more wide open in the draft this year, it’s worth noting that the Jets have shown a lot of interest in Jameis Winston.
NEW PHONE BOOKS: The Browns have new uniforms now. They’re brown and orange. Amazing. Their new threads aren’t half as interesting as what the fans were wearing last night.
REX’S NEW HOME: Rex Ryan’s Bills got the feature treatment in SI this month, and it’s a really good read, full of the typical Rex bravado. He really wants to make sure his old team doesn’t forget him either.
REX’S OLD HOME: Back in Orchard Park, the Jets are trying to dig they’re way out of the last three years, and part of that means finding an offensive identity. That’s Chan Gailey’s task. Speaking of Rex Ryan, did you know that he and Marty Mornhinweg almost got into a fist fight?
GIVE US YOUR DRAFT PICKS: It was reported Tuesday night, via the MMQB article about the Bills, that the Eagles initially wanted draft picks in exchange for LeSean McCoy. They got Kiko Alonso instead.
RIVAL ENDORSEMENT: At least one Chiefs fan, probably a lot more, would love to see the Chargers trade Philip Rivers to the Titans. Rivers is 13-6 in his career against the Chiefs.
OVERRATED: Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert gets a lot of love every spring, especially when it comes to free agency, but it’s fair to wonder if we’re not drastically overrating him. Pittsburgh’s defense isn’t exactly getting better these days, and his draft picks have left something to be desired.
OUT OF THE FRYING PAN: Remember when we were all just waiting for Jason Garrett to be fired, but Jerry Jones held firm. We laughed at the nutty old man. But who’s laughing now?
LONEY AT THE TOP: A total of 26 players are attending the NFL Draft this year. The presumed top pick, Winston, is not among them. Neither is Mariota. That’s probably not what the NFL had in mind for the big event in Chicago this year.
