RUNNING BACK REBOUND: For the first time in a long time, there will be no quarterbacks at the NFL Draft. However, there will be two running backs in attendance, Melvin Gordon and Todd Gurley, who could both easily be picked in the first round.
Rise ‘n Grind: A great year for running backs
It’s not exactly the 1990s, but it’s a good time to be an NFL running back again.

VOTE COMING: Development of the proposed stadium in Carson, Calif., is moving along. The city council is scheduled to vote on the project next week, just in time for the owners meeting, which is taking place further up the coast in the Bay Area.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR HERNANDEZ: The criminal justice system isn’t done with Aaron Hernandez just yet. His life sentence without parole for murder one comes with an automatic appeal. He’s got another upcoming trial for a 2012 double murder in Boston.
SEMI-PRO FOOTBALL TALK: Our NFL podcast is back, and it’s a doozy this week. It’s got Stephen White and Danny Kelly talking about what makes Leonard Williams so good, those QB trade rumors and lots more. Plus, PFT Commenter drops by with some takes.
BILL’S BEST: The Patriots have been through 15 drafts with Bill Belichick at the helm. Some have been better than others, but none of them have been a Rams-level disaster or anything. But which one was Belichick’s best draft?
MANY RIVERS TO CROSS: Alright, I can’t just laugh off the idea of the Chargers trading Philip Rivers anymore. And I understand it from their perspective. What I don’t understand is how the Titans, assuming that’s the team they would send him to, would benefit from a quarterback in his 30s. Be sure to read Bill Barnwell’s run down of the Rivers situation at Grantland.
CHANGING TIDES: Sean Payton may be giving us some interesting clues about where the Saints are heading. He told a New Orleans radio station that he wants to find defensive players ready to play in the draft, and he also mentioned that he wants the Saints to have a strong running game, something reflected in their free agency moves to get C.J. Spiller and extend Mark Ingram.
BAD TIMING: Jalen Strong, one member of a pretty solid group of receivers in this year’s draft, is likely to have surgery to fix a broken wrist. Needless to say, that could hurt the Arizona State product’s draft stock, but that just means some team could get a steal.
TWO SPORTS: And what does Seahawks general manager John Schneider think about the possibility of Russell Wilson playing baseball?
