Brett Favre has been retired from football for a few years now, but it wasn't until last summer that his status as a Green Bay Packers legend was cemented. The team announced before the start of last season that Favre would be inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame and have his number retired in 2015. That induction ceremony will take place on July 18 at Lambeau Field.
Packers to retire Brett Favre’s number at Thanksgiving night game
The legendary quarterback will have his name put on the Packers Ring of Honor at Lambeau Field during a game against the Bears on Turkey Day.

The final piece of the puzzle was the actual date that his jersey and name would be revealed on the facade in the Lambeau Field Ring of Honor. The team confirmed on Monday that this portion of Favre's retirement ceremony will take place during the Packers-Bears game on Thanksgiving night.
Green Bay also confirmed it would be honoring Ron Wolf on Nov. 15. In a statement, the organization said that anybody would be “hard pressed” to name any players or executives “that have had a bigger impact on the organization than Brett Favre and Ron Wolf.” They went on to say that it is “fitting that they will be honored in the same season, since they teamed together to return winning football to the Packers in the ‘90s.”
“It will be an incredible honor to be in Lambeau Field on Thanksgiving night with Packers fans,” Favre said in the statement, “and have my name and number placed among the greatest players in Packers history.”
This scheduling tidbit certainly adds yet another layer to one of the most historic rivalries in football. Not only will this matchup get the primetime holiday treatment, but it will also be an emotional night for Packers fans everywhere as one of the greatest players in NFL history officially has his number raised among the other franchise legends.
“With the great history and tradition of the Packers-Bears rivalry, and remembering the great matchups we had during my career, it seems only fitting to have Chicago as the opponent,” Favre said.
In addition, it will mark the first time the Packers have played a home game on Thanksgiving since Nov. 29, 1923, when Green Bay defeated the Hammond Pros, 19-0.
Favre will be the sixth Packer to have his number retired, joining Tony Canadeo, Don Hutson, Bart Starr, Ray Nitschke and Reggie White.
