After three consecutive 8-8 seasons, the Dallas Cowboys finally broke through to the playoffs in 2014, winning 12 games and advancing to the conference championship round. According to Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning news, starting quarterback Tony Romo thinks even bigger things lay ahead for the Cowboys, telling the audience at the Dream Ball Gala that the team will win Super Bowl 50.

However, the Giants’ Rashad Jennings sees the season playing out differently.

With Romo at the helm, the Cowboys have earned four postseason berths over the nine years. However, the team has won only two games in the playoffs, never advancing further than the divisional round in any season.
Romo sees that changing during the upcoming NFL season. While at the Dream Ball Gala to receive the Nancy Leiberman Lifetime Award, he gave a 10-minute acceptance speech in which he thanked his Cowboys teammates, coaches and executives for contributing to his success.
“In the last five years, it’s become all the people that I’m with, the Jason Wittens, the Jason Garretts, the Joneses, these people I’ve been with for a long time,” Romo said. “I want to win a championship so bad, but it’s just not about me. I literally want to win it so bad for them. For the people around me who have helped me.
“They’ve allowed me to achieve my dreams and my goals. Without them, I’m not there, I promise you. I’m not where I’m at right now and I’m not going where I’m going.”
Romo then closed with a prediction.
“This award is very meaningful to me, mostly because I get to be associated with this and to be associated with Nancy,” Romo said. “It’s incredible and I really appreciate you, and we’re going to win a Super Bowl next year. Thank you.”
However, Romo isn’t the only player in the NFC East to forecast a Lombardi Trophy for his team. Running back Rashad Jennings made a similar prediction this week, telling Newsday’s Bob Glauber that there’s “no question” the New York Giants are Super Bowl contenders this year.
While the outcome of the 2015 season will disappoint at least one of the players, their confidence should add another narrative to Week 1’s Giants-Cowboys Sunday Night Football opener.
