BRADFORD BELONGS TO THEM: The Eagles and Sam Bradford are reportedly trying to work on a contract extension, perhaps with a no-trade clause for this year. That would seem to indicate that the Bradford camp is buying the trade rumors also. The report also says that Bradford will not sign a contract extension with any other team -- i.e. the Browns or the Titans -- that might be looking to acquire him, complicating a possible trade. On the other hand, LeSean McCoy signed an extension with the Bills despite his reported unhappiness with being traded there.
Rise ‘n Grind: The Eagles are keeping Sam Bradford after all. Maybe.
We’re talking deals this morning, real and imagined.
BAD TIMING: Missouri defensive end Shane Ray picked a bad time to get popped for marijuana possession, even though it was only a small amount of weed. Anonymous scouts have yet to weigh in on his potential draft status in the wake of the arrest.
TAKE THE FIFTH: The Browns have reportedly made an inquiry about Washington’s fifth overall pick. They’ve actually been talking to most of the teams in the top 10 picks of the draft, presumably doing their homework for a trade-up to get Marcus Mariota. Related, the Jets are reportedly content with their quarterbacks, at least for now, and that’s enough to suggest they won’t use the sixth pick for Mariota.
POWERFUL ENEMIES: Even the kids are turning against 49ers owner Jed York.
WHY THE JETS ARE BAD: Maybe we should be impressed that the Jets haven’t been worse over the last couple years. Nobody the team drafted between 2008 and 2012 has been to a Pro Bowl.
COSMIC CHARLIE: Do not ask Charlie Casserly a question he’s not prepared for. Instead, you should be asking why this guy’s opinion matters enough to be on television. Just look at the guy’s mock draft.
NEW NINERS: Should the 49ers look into trading for Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks?
