Rise ‘n Grind: Andy Dalton’s mystical journey

The Bengals without Andy Dalton at quarterback? It could happen, sooner than you think.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

BIG RED GONE: Can you imagine the Bengals without Andy Dalton? Yes, true believers, it could happen. It's one of the predictions people are making for the 2016 season. Does this mean we might actually have to hold Marvin Lewis accountable for not winning a playoff game?

SAN DIEGO STADIUM TALK: Bolt from the Blue sat down for an exclusive interview with the folks working hard to develop a new stadium for the Chargers in San Diego. It’s a good, realistic look at where things stand in that community.

THE DRAFT THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING: Five years is a long time in the NFL world. A lot of players have come and gone since the 2010 NFL Draft, but the effects of that draft are still shaping the league’s landscape today.

BIG MAN, BIG QUESTIONS: Miami offensive tackle Ereck Flowers is a mountain of a man, a potential first-round pick who lacks the kind of technique you’d like to see from a prospect of his stature. Stephen White dug deep into Flowers’ tape looking for answers. You can read the rest of Stephen’s excellent scouting reports here.

HYPED: I wish I could enjoy something, anything, as much as Michael Irvin did the NIT basketball tournament final.

HE’S BACK: Josh Freeman is still in the NFL, apparently. The Miami Dolphins signed him on Thursday.

GRONK THINGS: Rob Gronkowski’s party boy antics are pretty funny ... until they’re not, like when he compares getting blackout drunk to the long-term neurological damage associated with CTE.

BEAR DOWN: The Bears released veteran center Roberto Garza and signed Will Montgomery. Garza was a locker room leader, and now Kyle Long will assume that role.

DUMB SCANDAL AVERTED: The Ravens owner said something about signing Lions defensive tackle Haloti Ngata again next season. In the world of the Jets and Patriots that would constitute a tampering charge. The Lions are more chill than that.

SPREAD QB: Two excellent football writers, Doug Farrar and Chris Burke of SI, are doing their look at the draft’s top prospects right now. This bit about Brett Hundley is a good perspective on the NFL future of a talented kid who needs some time to get accustomed to the pro game.

PHOTOSHOPPIN’: Demaryius Thomas wasn’t at Duke working out with Peyton Manning et al, but his teammates brought him along somehow.
