The New York Giants haven't begun training camp yet, and already they're dealing with their first major injury. According to Fox Sports' Mike Garafolo, starting left tackle Will Beatty suffered a torn pectoral muscle.
Will Beatty tears pectoral, expected to miss 5-6 months
The Giants’ starting left tackle will miss at least some of the regular season with a pectoral injury.

While pectoral injuries can vary widely in severity and recovery time, it appears Beatty's injury will put him on the shelf for somewhere between five and six months. That means Eli Manning will be without his preferred blindside protector until at least late October.

Beatty may not receive the same notoriety as other left tackles around the league, but he has consistently outperformed all but a few other players at his position. He surrendered just three sacks last season, according to Pro Football Focus. More importantly, Beatty started the last 46 consecutive games for the Giants.
Beatty has played in all 48 games the last three seasons, including 47 starts for New York.
With Beatty out, it's unclear exactly how New York will reconfigure its offensive line. Journeyman blocker Marshall Newhouse has started a handful of games between his stints with the Green Bay Packers and Cincinnati Bengals, but he's a mediocre pass protector and even worse run blocker. Justin Pugh played left tackle in college, but he hasn't lined up there as a pro. Ereck Flowers started his last 25 college games at left tackle, but he projects better as a right tackle or guard in the NFL.
