An important piece of the Cowboys' secondary will remain in Dallas through 2019. According to the Dallas Morning News, Orlando Scandrick has agreed to an extension that adds one year and $9.5 million to his contract.

Scandrick was a no-show during the Cowboys’ voluntary workouts earlier this offseason, a decision aimed at pushing the team towards extending his deal. The strategy worked, and now the cornerback will see his $1.5 million pay for 2015 bumped up to $4 million fully guaranteed. Scandrick will also earn $5 million next season, up from $3 million.
With Scandrick back in the fold, the Cowboys have their preferred starting defensive backs under contract through at least 2016. It’s a relatively young group, too; all four key players at the position will be under 30 years old throughout the upcoming season.
Over the last two seasons, Scandrick has played in 30 of a possible 32 regular season games. He has accumulated four interceptions, three forced fumbles and three sacks during that span.
