PFT Commenter: The Washington NFL team thinks ‘the Confederate Flag is a hateful symbol’

The team no longer wants to be associated in any way with a visual and verbal remanent of the subjugation and violent murder visited upon an entire ethnic group over a bloody and demeaning 400 years of American history.

We’re required to remind you that these strong takes are SATIRE. Sorry, not sorry. All spelling errors are intentional, we think. -Ed.

The Washington NFL team have joined the Carolina Panthers as the latest NFL team to condem the presents of the Confederate flag on goverment property and on state lisense plates.

The Panthers were the first NFL team to comment on the issue of the public display of the flag saying: “Our organization prides itself on bringing people together. Divisive symbols and actions should not stand in conflict to progress, healing and the unification of all our citizens.”

But now even the teams historicly inept PR department has issued a statement on the matter and you have to admit they got this one right folks:

“The Washington Redskins organization condemns in the strongest possible terms any use of any antiquated symbols and historicaly offensive imagerey that only serve to divide our community. The Redskins believe that the time has come to move on from this relic of the past that at best, reminds us of a shameful and violent time in our nations history, and at worst, inparts a feeling of subhuman status on an entire group of American citizens.

As a public entitity that represents a vast and diverse community of fans, the Redskins do not wish to be assocated in ANY way with a visual and verbal remanent of the subjugation and violent murder visited upon a entire ethnic group over a bloody and demeaning 400 year’s of American history. That is not what the Redskins are all about.

While some of our supporters may point to the symbol as being one of honor and hertage, we hope that in the following day’s, week’s, and month’s, Redskins nation will collectively consider the emotional harm that your doing to some of your neighbors and countrymen when you display such a hateful and antiquated symbol of an ultimately futile campaign alongside your Redskins merchandise.

Go Skins!“

Say what you want about how poorly theyve handled literlly every single thing they’ve ever done before, but today they stood tall and hit a easy target. Maybe RG3 could learn a lesson or two folks.
