After an ugly Week 2 where Andy Dalton threw for 46 yards and two interceptions, the Cincinnati Bengals will be using their Saturday night matchup against the Chicago Bears to get their passing game rolling before the starters watch the preseason finale from the sidelines.

Andy Dalton and the Bengals’ offense will try to bounce back from a rough outing last week when they host the Bears Friday night.

It’s likely Dalton will get an extended look with his starting offensive line and his top receivers in hopes of finding some chemistry at home. Cincinnati has all five starters back from last year’s line, and the team drafted offensive tackles in the first two rounds, but Dalton was sacked three times and pressured even more. He also had trouble hooking up with receiver A.J. Green at times, and the Bengals need that connection to work this season.
The Bears have been running the ball well in the first two preseason games. In the past, Chicago has struggled to find a quality backup to Matt Forte, but rookie Jeremy Langford has looked good so far. The fourth-round pick was somewhat overlooked in a stellar running back class, but he could be the future back for the Bears.
The running game's performance has taken pressure off Jay Cutler, but the first-string offense still hasn't scored a preseason touchdown. Cutler, though, has to find someone healthy to catch the ball. Right now, tight end Martellus Bennett is essentially Chicago's top receiver while first-round pick Kevin White and Alshon Jeffery are out with injuries. They'll face a normally stout Bengals defense, which will try to rebound from a poor game against Jameis Winston and the Buccaneers last week.
This season, both the Bengals and the Bears have a lot to prove in their divisions, and despite the number of injuries around the league, the starters should get plenty of playing time in the third preseason game.
