YOU ARE READY: There’s a real live football game on tonight, one that counts and everything, the Steelers against the Patriots at Gillette Stadium, where Patriots teams lead by Tom Brady and Bill Belichick have a 90-15 record. New England is favored by seven points.
The NFL season finally returns!
The Patriots and Steelers kickoff at 8:30 p.m. ET on Thursday night. Football is here!

HOT READ: Both teams playing tonight happen to have pretty good quarterbacks, unlike most of the NFL. Kevin Clark at the Wall Street Journal has a great piece out this week looking into the quarterback crisis threatening to change the league.
PROP BETS: Can both teams make a field goal of 37 yards or more? The odds say yes! With Le’Veon Bell and Martavis Bryant both suspended for the Steelers, you can get good odds on Markus Wheaton breaking 100 receiving yards.
WHAT TO WATCH: Pittsburgh’s linebackers will have their hands full with Rob Gronkowski. That could mean more work for Scott Chandler, the former Bills tight end signed by the Patriots during the offseason.
FANTASY CORNER: Whether you’re playing in a weekly league or a daily fantasy game, check out recommendations for who to sit and who to start on Thursday.
VICK TAKES: Fans were not happy that the Steelers signed Michael Vick. PFT Commenter just happened to be at Heinz Field for the big protest last week.
DOOOO IT: Kam Chancellor wants you to know that he isn’t asking for much, and the Seahawks would be very reasonable to meet him halfway.
DALLAS RUNNING BACKS: Nobody’s really going to get the starting job for the Cowboys, are they?
RUGBY PLAYERS: Jarryd Hayne is the exception, not the rule.
PICKS: We picked every game so you don’t have to.
EAGLES SUPER BOWL: Adam Schefter predicted that the Eagles will win Super Bowl 50.
REACTION: Watch the Patriots coaching react to Jermaine Kearse’s catch during the Super Bowl.
ANYONE HOME: There’s not going to be much of a crowd at the Rams home opener in St. Louis.
RISING TIDES: The Falcons, the Bears, the Dolphins ... the arrow is suddenly pointing up for these teams (and a few more) after some rough times.
PITCH COUNT: The Colts are planning to limit the number of time Frank Gore touches the ball.
PREVIEW PITCH: The season officially gets underway at 8:30 p.m. ET which gives you plenty of time to catch up on everything you need to know with our jam-packed season preview!
