Maybe the 49ers aren’t a total disaster

Okay, it was, at times, an ugly affair, but the 49ers pulled off a big win on Monday night. So did the Falcons. And, and, and ... power rankings!

POWER RANKINGS: Just posted, this week’s power rankings see a big fall from the Seahawks, a familiar name on top and some up and coming teams that have staying power.

GOOD ENOUGH: Maybe we weren't giving the 49ers enough credit during their terrible offseason. They beat the Vikings in a Monday Night Football nightcap, 20-3. (OK, it was a pretty ugly game all around.)

HYDE HYPE: Carols Hyde did the bulk of the work for the Niners offense, thanks to a few sweet moves like this one.

ALL DAY DISAPPEARS: Adrian Peterson was a non-factor, finishing with 31 yards on 10 carries. That’s it.

PRESEASON HERO: The Jarryd Hayne hype trail hit a bump in the tracks last night with this play. It was enough for one Australian blogger to get pretty carried away with though.

BUSHED: Reggie Bush is hurt.

FIGHTING FALCONS: Dan Quinn had a strong debut in Atlanta, swatting away a late push by the Eagles for a 26-24 win.

CLIPPED WINGS: After spending a gazillion dollars on free agent running backs, Chip Kelly’s Eagles only bothered to run the ball 16 times. It didn’t help that Sam Bradford and the receivers couldn’t get in sync in the first half. Kicking woes certainly hurt the Eagles too, but Kelly stood by his kicker after the game. Jordan Matthews was pretty upset after he bobbled a pass that led to a game-ending interception.

BEST CATCH: At least Eagles fans have this incredible interception from Kiko Alonso, aka the guy they got for LeSean McCoy.

BETTER OFF DEZ: PFT Commenter dropped a scorching hot take about the Dallas Cowboys and Dez Bryant in this week’s MMBM. Speaking of Bryant, he said surgery on his broken foot “went great.”

DJ PROBLEMS: The Seahawks DJ doesn’t want to make Russell Wilson uncomfortable.

SMART GUY: There’s a sense of relief that the Titans have finally found the quarterback they’ve been looking for in Marcus Mariota since ... since ... Steve McNair.

PUNCH OUT: You saw Pacman Jones attack Raiders rookie receiver Amari Cooper. Now, see Cooper punching Jones before that happened.

PEYTON PROBLEMS: What’s wrong with Peyton Manning?

BIG BLUE IS CONFUSED: The Giants still can’t explain what happened at the end of Sunday night’s loss to the Cowboys. Now, they’re saying Eli did it.
