The Houston Texans entered 2015 looking to build on a promising 9-7 season that left them just short of making the playoffs. Things haven't gone exactly as planned, though. They've already switched up their starting quarterback and have fallen into the dreaded 0-2 hole to start the season. The experts, however, are heavily favoring the Texans to get back on the winning track this week when they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon.
NFL picks and predictions, Buccaneers vs. Texans 2015: Houston looks ready roll over Tampa Bay
The experts are heavily favoring the Texans to get their first win of the season and send the Bucs below .500 again.
The absence of Arian Foster has hurt the Texans more than anything else through the first two weeks. Lacking a go-to back, they've been forced to air out and have gotten awful results. The Texans have attempted more passes than any other team, yet have the worst completion percentage and second-worst passer rating in the NFL. That's never a good combination. Their run game has struggled, too, averaging a meager 3.6 yards per rush.
After shocking the Saints in New Orleans last week, Tampa Bay looked nothing like the team that was blown out by the Titans in Week 1. The defense played much better, holding the Saints to one touchdown in the first three quarters and pressuring Drew Brees throughout the game. The Bucs used a more conservative offensive game plan and Jameis Winston flourished, completing 14 of 21 passes for 207 yards and no interceptions. Now they'll try to put together their first win streak since November 2013.
Winston's confidence was apparent in the win over the Saints and it hasn't wavered this week as he prepared to face the Texans and their all-world defensive lineman, J.J. Watt. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Winston noted that he was eager to face Watt and he's expecting it to be a "fun matchup." We'll find out in a few days who had more "fun" in this game.
The experts aren’t giving Winston and the Buccaneers much of a chance to knock off the Texans. Only one person at CBS Sports, Ryan Wilson, is picking Tampa Bay to pull off the upset on the road. And here at SB Nation, all eight of our dudes are going with Houston.
