BAD FOOTBALL: Terrible Thursday Night Football returned last night, with a turnover-prone Washington team badly underperforming expectations against a desperate New York Giants. The Giants got their first win, 32-21.
Jay Gruden is sticking with Kirk Cousins no matter how terrible he is
Listen, Washington does not have a quarterback controversy, okay? Plus, more TNF fallout, this week’s big underdogs and why playing fantasy sports for money is totally not gambling.
SAVED: Best of all for the Giants, the win saves them from an 0-3 start, daily humiliation in the tabloids and months of speculation about Tom Coughlin’s job. The real winner was the Big Blue defense, which found a pass rush last night.
KISSIN’ COUSINS: Jay Gruden’s hand-picked quarterback, Kirk Cousins, was awful, throwing two interceptions, missing critical passes and racking up a bunch of garbage time yards. However, there is no QB controversy, says Gruden. He’ll be sticking with the guy he staked his reputation on this year. One DC bar is giving away free shots for every Kirk Cousins interception, yikes. They might have been better off starting Kevin Durant at QB.
HOW LONG: The NFC East is sooooo bad. But will it be this bad all season?
LONDON: The NFL still hasn’t figured out Los Angeles, but they’re already talking about a team in London.
SIT/START: Don’t forget to set your fantasy football lineups. And before you do, check out Keepers.
GAMBLING: The NFL does not believe that fantasy football is gambling, but you should let Roger Goodell explain to you why that is.
UNDERDOGS: Speaking of gambling, Week 3 features TWO double-digit underdogs.
RELIEF: Good news for the Ravens, rookie receiver Breshad Perriman finally returned to practice.
ROSTER CUTS: Breaking Madden announced this week’s lineup and someone is puking on their mom’s floor.
PODCAST: The Onside Kick Family Hour returns to discuss how screwed the Cowboys are, the terrible state of O-line play, preview this week’s games and more!
BREAKUP: Is it time for the Saints to let go of Drew Brees?
